Resurfacing of La Grande Route de la Côte, La Rue de Samares to La Rue du Pontlietaut

31 January 2008

Road resurfacing work will be carried out on La Grande Route de la Côte between La Rue de Samares and La Rue du Pontlietaut (the section of St Clement’s Coast Road which passes along the front of the Shakespeare Hotel), from 5 February for a period of approximately 3 weeks.  A road closure, Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 4.30pm , will be required to carry out the work.  The majority of this road was last resurfaced 19 years ago.

While the road is closed, Eastbound traffic will be diverted onto La Grande Route de St Clement (the Inner Road) via Plat Douet and Westbound traffic will be diverted on to La Grande Route de St Clement (the Inner Road) at La Rue de Fauvic and La Rue du Pontlietaut.

Because La Rue de Pontlietaut is narrow a 6’6” width restriction will apply and HGVs are not to use this road (except buses), but remain on the main diversion route via La Grande Route de St Clement.

Route 1 buses will be diverted onto La Grande Route de St Clement (the Inner Road) between Plat Douet and La Rue de Pontlietaut.  Passengers for Route 1 bus stops between Green Island and Plat Douet will be provided with a free shuttle bus service running to and from Liberation Station, this service will match the Route 1 timetable. Route 18 buses will not be affected.

During working hours, no through traffic will be permitted but access to premises and businesses will be allowed. Access will change as the works progress, Ronez Ltd will be able to advise motorists of their best route by telephone (07797 799477) or on site. In all cases motorists are asked to drive through the works slowly and with care.

Delays are anticipated on diversion routes, the travelling public are asked to allow more time for their journeys and avoid the area if possible, Transport and Technical Services regrets any inconvenience that these essential maintenance works may cause.
